"It was so wonderful seeing [Our Brother] in such good health and happy... the last time I saw him was when he was in the hospital and the Doctor said he would always be a vegetable. Sure would like to meet that Doctor again."

"All who know [Our Cousin] were astonished at the miraculous progress he has made at Robin Hill. He looks healthy. He is walking straight and upright. His tremors have subsided. His attention span is better and he is able to carry on more fluent conversations."

Head Injury Rehabilitation

A unique, non-institutional, five-level approach.

Robin Hill Farm head injury rehabilitation facilities have grown and evolved steadily over the years. Robin Hill Farm was founded in 1983 in southern New Hampshire by the Donovan family after they recognized the need for post-acute, socially-based rehabilitation specifically designed for persons recovering from an acquired brain injury. Today, our family, in partnership with a dedicated staff, continues to further refine and support a program that balances quality of life with professional rehabilitation.

The head injury rehabilitation needs of each resident are met on both a physical and cognitive level.

Our results-oriented programs offer a full range of services for people experiencing the effects of traumatic brain injury. Residents move through the programs as their level of independence increases; they may also stay at Robin Hill Farm should there be a need for increased care due to various complications such as decreased mobility or aging.

The focus of each resident's head injury rehabilitation program is determined by his or her personal goals. Each of our uniquely designed facilities gives residents the benefit of living in a non-institutional, home with a community-based setting, and can be used for both short- and long-term programs. In addition, Robin Hill Farm provides a fleet of approximately 15 vans and cars that are available for resident transportation, ensuring that access to the community is always available. Across all programs, we provide an exceptional staff-to-resident ratio, which ensures a high quality of life for each resident.

The evolution of innovative head injury rehabilitation.

Robin Hill's innovative head injury rehabilitation program had its beginnings in the White House, which was remodeled in 1985 to meet the demand for non-institutional services. Licensed by the State of NH as a Residential Treatment and Rehabilitation program, the White House can accommodate up to six residents. In 1986, an adjacent family residence, the Blue House, was purchased and licensed by the State, with room for seven more clients. In 1993, Robin Hill Farm added a Supported Residential component to the main campus, after recognizing the need for post-acute, socially-based head injury rehabilitation programs for individuals who were non-ambulatory, and who, although medically stable, had significantly more involved needs than those we had originally served.

In 1994, we expanded the Supported Residential concept and purchased the Meredith House, a three-bed, barrier-free residence in Hillsboro, ten minutes away from the main campus. In addition to the farm environment, we have extended our program location to include Peterborough, just 30 minutes south of the main campus. Here we operate the "Our Town" community residence program, which offers the greatest degree of independence. With 24-hour a day staffing for five apartments, residents work with staff in specific areas of need, including money management and safety skills; some participants may be preparing for full community independence.

As you can see, Robin Hill Farm offers a unique, home- and community-based approach to head injury rehabilitation. We encourage you to visit, and explore our programs and facilities.
