Brain Injury Organizations & Other
Helpful Links
We would like you to know that while the challenges of providing
appropriate care for adults with brain injuries can be a daunting
task, there are people and organizations out there that can help.
Here is a sampling of those we find particularly effective. If
you know of others, please let us know and we'll see about adding
them to the list.
Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire (BIANH)
www.bianh.org
OK, we may be a little biased, but we think this is the best
state affiliated chapter of the National BIA in the country! They
are always ready to help in any way possible, and truly know about
NH resources.
Brain Injury Association of America (BIAUSA)
www.biausa.org
Again, a very effective and helpful organization based near Washington
DC, they are our national organization, and can provide a wealth
of information.
North American Brain Injury Society
www.nabis.org
Great reference site for all aspects of brain injury, with lots
of good links.
National Association of Head Injury Administrators
www.nasha.org
Most if not all states have a designated "brain injury guru",
and it's likely that they belong to this organization. Lots of
good information on social policy, funding and resource allocation
issues. This organization works closely with BIAUSA.
We would be remiss if we didn't point out the excellent and critical
work being done by the CDC.
We have along and successful relationship with our local VA's
and we just heard about this new site while attending a VISN seminar.
Check it out!
"Our mission is to support people who have developmental disabilities
or acquired brain disorders, in partnership with families and
caregivers, to enhance their independence and personal growth
while fostering meaningful relationships and involvement within
their communities."
From time to time we will be updating
this page. We'd love to hear from you if one of these links helped
you out.
